Muntjacs have bony ridges on their face that extend above the top of the head.
Males have antlers that extend from the bony ridge and also long tusk-like canines. Large mammals, such as leopards, tigers, jackals, foxes and dholes have been known to hunt muntjac, as well as reptiles like crocodiles and pythons.
