Markhor eat a variety of grasses in spring and summer and leaves, twigs and shrubs during the fall and winter.
They are well adapted to mountainous terrain with steep cliffs and are typically found in scrublands and lightly forested areas. Markhor will spend up to fourteen hours a day foraging, but must have a rest period to chew cud.
